V8's Supercars a resounding success
The V8 Supercars event, held at Symmons Plains from 30 March to 1 April, was a very successful event, attracting over 50,000 spectators, from Tasmania and interstate, over the three days.
The V8 Supercars at Symmons Plains is regarded as our biggest single-day sporting event.
It is estimated that up to $3.5 million was generated into the local economy by the V8 competitors, and interstate and Tasmanian fans.
With this event being the second in the new V8 Supercars Championship calendar, Tasmania motorsport fans were among the first to view the new car liveries and new team line-ups.
Families were well catered for, with Disney Pixar’s CARS Truck Tour and for the first time, Lightning McQueen making an exclusive Tasmanian appearance. Children aged 12 and under, received free entry into the event, with a paying adult.
