Charles Bracewell- Manager Event Development

What Charles hasn’t done in the events world you could write on the back of a postage stamp.

Charles joined the Events Tasmania team in 2008, after 15 years of hands-on experience in cultural development, directing festivals and community programs in New Zealand and Australia – including the NZ Short Film Festival, Adelaide FEAST Festival and Australian Festival for Young People. He was National Director for Young People and the Arts Australia for several years before relocating to Tasmania.

Over the last six years, he has provided advice and coaching to hundreds of major and community events in Tasmania, helped organisers establish fifty new events, and managed the Event Development Program which provided over 1,000 grants and 750 places at event master classes since inception.

Charles is also a prolific and award-winning filmmaker and cabaret creator, starting his working life as an actor. His films have been screened in and sold to over 40 countries; he has created twelve solo and cabaret shows, and released three albums.

He maintains close links to community development, spending three years on the board of TasPride and Junction Arts Festival, and currently appointed to the Centenary of ANZAC State Organising Committee.

Not surprisingly, given his background and talent, Charles can always be relied upon for a song, a clever line, and is often the spark that re-boots the team when we’ve had a big day.
