Congratulations to Tour of Tasmania 2012 winner Lachlan Norris

The Caterpillar Underground Mining Tour of Tasmania was held from 2 – 7 October, and consisted of nine stages over six days. The 552.4km journey began in the state’s capital, Hobart, on Tuesday, 2 October, starting with a grand parade of riders from Constitution Dock to Cascade Brewery.

Lachlan Norris notched up the greatest victory of his cycling career after clinching the 2012 event.

The tour, which was the toughest in the eight-year history of the event, was the finale of the four-part SCODY Cup, which was taken out by Genesys Wealth Advisers rider Anthony Giacoppo.

Last year's Tour of Tasmania champion Nathan Haas and SCODY Cup winner Steele Von Hoff have both progressed to international careers, a path Norris hopes to take.

The tour showcased seven municipalities - Hobart City, Derwent Valley, Meander Valley, Central Highlands, Central Coast, Burnie City and Devonport City.
