Special Interest Grant
APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED
The Special Interest Grant program aims to encourage and assist clubs, associations and organisations, (including sporting, cultural, recreational, and special interest groups) with a common interest to stage their next event in Tasmania.
To be eligible for this grant, your event must attract a minimum of 30 visitors to Tasmania staying at least three nights at commercial accommodation during the higher incentive period or a minimum number of 40 visitors during the lower incentive periods as specified below.
Funding is calculated at an estimated $40 per person up to a maximum benefit of $10,000 for events in the 1 May to 31 October period (the higher incentive period) and an estimated $20 per person capped at a maximum benefit of $5,000 in the 1 March to 30 April and 1 November to 24 December periods (the lower incentive periods).
After your event has been staged, the Special Interest Grant will be paid based on receipt of a copy of the visitor data collected and a Statutory Declaration form verifying your visitor numbers.
Conditions
• All successful applicants will be required to enter into a contract with the Tasmanian Government which outlines the responsibilities and obligations of both parties.
• When applying for funding under the auspices of an incorporated body, the funds will be provided to the incorporated body. The incorporated body must agree to allocate those funds to the event specified in the grant funding application.
• Grant recipients must provide a copy of a Certificate of Currency for the level of public liability insurance specified in the contract with the Tasmanian Government. This must be received prior to staging your event or you will not be eligible for funding.
• Funding amounts are allocated according to the commencement date of the event, i.e. if your event commences on 30 April, and finishes early May you will only be eligible to claim the lower incentive funding allocation.
• All successful applicants need to contact Events Tasmania before the commencement of their event to discuss the correct way in which to collect visitor data
Applications closed Monday, 18 April 2011 for the 2012 program.
